Fast, Effective Trauma Treatment
No matter how severe a trauma, or how long you have suffered with it, help is available.
What are some of the symptoms of Emotional Trauma?
What are some of the symptoms of Emotional Trauma?
- Hypervigilance - A state of hyper-arousal in which you may startle easily, be on constant alert for danger, feel irritable, anxious or fearful, easily overwhelmed and unable to relax. This may also show up as anger, frustration or agitation.
- Intrusive Thoughts - either flashbacks (vivid memories of a past traumatic event replaying in your mind), or frequent and automatic thoughts of danger or disturbing images related to a past trauma. This may also manifest as nightmares or night terrors.
- Feeling emotionally shut down, numb, detached or dissociated (separate from your physical body). You might feel dizzy or spacey. This can also look like depression. May lead to avoidance, isolation, difficulty working or being around people, and lowered libido.
- Chronic physical tension, somatic problems such as headaches, body aches, and chronic pain conditions that do not resolve completely with typical physical treatments.
If you are experiencing any of the trauma symptoms listed above, relief may be closer than you think.
Trauma is, simply put, a past experience that caused the mind/body to go into survival mode (Fight-Flight-Freeze), and never resolved because a part of your consciousness has remained in that state, and your body also holds that state as a body memory (this can feel like stress, tension, somatic problems, anxiety, or negative emotions).
Any reminder of the original trauma can be a trigger that causes an immediate increase in trauma symptoms, and this can be emotionally overwhelming and debilitating. Many people end up avoiding situations that cause stress and anxiety, and may isolate themselves, leading to more anxiety, fear, low-self esteem and depression.
The Good News:
There are techniques that are extremely effective for resolving emotional trauma. My number one favorite trauma treatment method is EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
EFT is unique as one of the most popular and well researched methods in the field of Energy Psychology. EFT is a powerful mind-body technique that stimulates the subtle energies of the body (prana or chi) and is a wonderful blend of Exposure Treatment, Desensitization, Cognitive Restructuring, and Deep Relaxation Training - all rolled neatly into one technique.
EFT is like Emotional Acupuncture (without needles). A gentle technique of tapping on meridian points (on yourself) while verbalizing the feelings, images and memories of a traumatic incident or painful memory. A growing number of research studies (more than 60 now), suggest that EFT is more effective, and requires fewer sessions, than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Medication for trauma treatment.
For a complete review of peer-reviewed research studies on EFT, visit ACEP (Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology).
Clients often begin to experience immediate trauma relief, even starting in the first tapping session, and the benefits are long lasting in most cases.

Energy Psychology methods such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), related Meridian Tapping techniques, have yielded impressive results for relieving emotional and somatic distress. There are over 120 published peer reviewed studies on EFT including double-blind placebo studies, showing significant benefits in 98% of studies. While many people seem to experience faster results with Energy Psychology methods than most traditional talk therapy approaches, results vary widely depending on each individual and the specific issues that they are seeking to resolve.
